March 2021: What the Attorney Moms of Collin County Is All About
Moms United!
The Attorney Moms of Collin County started out as an informal Facebook group. It was founded in October 2017 as an online community where moms in the legal profession can ask questions and share ideas on topics ranging from work to motherhood. Recently, the Attorney Moms of Collin County became an official group under the Collin County Bar Association (CCBA) umbrella. The group started out small under the direction of Holly Draper but now boasts 283 online members. I will have the honor and privilege of serving as president of the Attorney Moms of Collin County starting in July 2021.
The organization has an incredibly diverse leadership team representing various backgrounds and stages of motherhood and spanning many fields of law. With the group’s new status with the CCBA, we’re thrilled to make a bigger impact in the community and for law-practicing moms! The group has served as a haven for moms to ask questions like, “Is there a lactation room in the courthouse where I’ll be working tomorrow?” or, “Does this law firm offer maternity leave for its employees?” The members also promote each other’s businesses and serve as a referral network, both for issues related to the practice of law and for parental needs.
