January 2023: Focusing on the Gain, Not the Gap
“If you focus on what you lack, you lose what you have. If you focus on what you have, you gain what you lack.” This quote is from a book I read in 2022, and it quickly became my favorite book of the year. “The Gap and the Gain” by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy proves to be so true. After reading it, I found my outlook on life to be forever enhanced. It became my directive to look back on what I have accomplished thus far (“the gain”) and to not solely focus on how much more I have yet to get done (“the gap”) — and not just on a personal level. Incorporating this practice into my daily thinking has been quite valuable and has shown how easy it is to forget the daily wins and the importance of celebrating the little things.
