Recognizing the Heart of Healthcare: Monthly Nurse Giveaway Winners Announced
At Snellings Law, we believe that heroes don’t always wear capes—sometimes they wear scrubs. That’s why we launched the North Texas Nurse Giveaway, a heartfelt initiative designed to recognize and celebrate the nurses who go above and beyond to serve our community. Every day, nurses show extraordinary compassion, strength, and selflessness, often without recognition. Through this program, we invite North Texans to nominate a nurse who has impacted their life, and each month, three deserving winners are surprised with a thoughtfully curated gift basket. It’s a small token of our deep appreciation for the powerful impact these healthcare professionals have on the lives of others.
Meet This Month’s Honorees
This month, we are thrilled to spotlight three incredible nurses: Kalyn Murre, LaWana Griffin, and Nikkie Freeman.
Kalyn Murre was nominated by a student nurse who couldn’t say enough about Kalyn’s generosity in sharing her knowledge and time. Known for being a phenomenal mentor and advocate for both her patients and students, Kalyn is the kind of nurse everyone wants to learn from. Her passion for patient care and her willingness to uplift the next generation of nurses have made a lasting impact in the clinical setting. One nomination even noted that “all of us students would fight to have her as our nurse”—a testament to the kind of role model and professional she is.
LaWana Griffin brings more than a decade of nursing experience to her current role in remote triage care. After working in multiple specialties since 2011, she now provides crucial medical advice and support to patients and their families from afar. Her work ensures that families receive timely, compassionate guidance when they need it most. LaWana’s dedication to adapting her skills in new and innovative ways shows how nursing continues to evolve—yet always remains centered on care.
Nikkie Freeman was nominated by someone who will never forget her calm, reassuring presence during the delivery of their child. When doctors didn’t arrive in time, Nikkie stepped in and safely delivered the baby—answering questions, offering comfort, and handling the moment with complete composure. The nominator called her “one of the kindest, most supportive nurses” they’ve ever encountered. It’s moments like these, filled with vulnerability and emotion, where the impact of a nurse is truly felt—and remembered forever.
